Travel with Confidence
for Antarctica Expedition Cruises
Here’s where you’ll find everything you need to know about our new protocols for Antarctica — including what’s required of you and what you can expect from us on your G Expedition trip. Understanding the entry requirements for the destination country is your responsibility and our handy COVID-19 travel restriction tool can help you out. Please check that and review the info below before your departure.
Before you join us
- Prior to coming aboard the G Expedition, passengers will undergo a screening process which includes the completion of a COVID questionnaire, and review of vaccine documentation.
- All passengers, staff and crew on the G Expedition must be fully vaccinated. In this instance, fully vaccinated means all passengers, staff and crew have completed a full primary series of COVID-19 vaccines with the final dose given at least 14 days prior to the day of departure. Whilst recent booster doses are not required they are recommended. For the best protection, people are best protected when they stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, which includes getting a booster when eligible. Passengers must also provide a digital/printed vaccine certificate issued by the applicable government body from their home country before boarding the G Expedition.

Our fully vaccinated definition for the G Expedition applies even when the passenger has previously contracted and recovered from COVID. A passenger who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 to 90 days prior to embarkation (and continues to have a false positive), must provide official documentation showing either a negative COVID-19 test, proof that they tested positive more than 14 days prior to departure or a Certificate of Recovery from a medical doctor.
When you arrive
- Testing may be required at the discretion of G Adventures, based on the advice of medical professionals.
- If local regulations are stricter than G Adventures’ protocols, travellers will be required to follow the regulations set by the local government.
While on tour
- Passengers are asked to assess themselves throughout the trip on a daily basis for COVID symptoms and report any symptoms or ill feelings to the ship’s doctor.
- All staff and crew must wear masks when social distancing is not possible.
- While passengers are not required to wear masks, they are strongly encouraged to do so. Please note that when spending time in certain confined areas of the ship, passengers may be required to wear a mask (such as when visiting the medical facility). Additionally, should there be any confirmed cases of COVID at any time during the trip, all passengers may be required to wear a mask at the discretion of G Adventures.
- Social distancing isn’t mandatory, however it is strongly encouraged while on board the G Expedition.
- Passengers are asked to be aware throughout the trip should they be in close contact with another passenger who unfortunately tests positive. Close contacts should be reported to the ship’s doctor for further instructions.Close contact is defined by the CDC as anyone who was less than six feet away from an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24 hour period. (An individual is considered infectious with COVID two days before onset of symptoms to 10 days after).
- If a passenger tests positive, they must isolate in a cabin immediately.
